Thailand Retreat 2017

I am thrilled to announce my first Yoga Adventure Retreat to Thailand from November 1st until November 8th, 2017.  Join us on this beautiful journey to a country that is so enchanting.  Each day of the retreat starts with a Morning Yoga session and Meditation/Intention setting for the day.

Together we will explore the heart of the capital, Bangkok.  We will start our journey by exploring the spiritual and religious heart of the city, the Grand Palace which is the home of intricate temples and an abundance of Buddhas. Our next stop is the Floating Market in Bangkok which is a must see. It is a place where you’ll be able to find anything imaginable and some things you’d never imagine exist. Indulge in the true culture of locals and see where they shop by the charm and authenticity of the Floating Market. Remember, you are the creator of your own stories and experiences. Let your heart be open. Let your mind be free.

We will embrace the rawness of Thai culture by visiting Ayutthaya which was sacked by the Burmese, leading them to abandon the site and relocate to the capital, Bangkok. All of the remains are the stones and brick temples from that era. We will explore Ayutthaya’s famous ruins, visit the magnificent stupa’s at Wat Phri Sanphet, the giant Bronze Statue of Buddha and iconic Wat Mahatat where the head of a damaged Buddha statue has slowly been embraced and lifted by a nearby tree. This is one of Thailand’s most religiously significant places. We will depart Ayutthaya on a cruise ship on the Chao Praya River for a scenic cruise back to Bangkok.

Together we will fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, a picturesque city nestled in the foothills of northern Thailand.

We planned the retreat during the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai Lunar Calendar. We will experience the Yi Peng & Loi Krathong Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai. It is a colorful festival held every year on the full moon of the twelfth month in the Thai Lunar Calendar.  In 2017, the festival will be held during November 3 – 5.  Together we will witness and participate in the festival on November 3rd, 2017. The lantern fest is celebrated throughout the Kingdom on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. The Loi Krathong festival is named after the floating lanterns, boats and ornaments that are set adrift onto rivers during the celebrations. For some, floating a Krathong, especially when its lit, are meant to honor Buddha. For most Thai’s, it’s a way to thank the Hindu Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha, for her help in providing the most basic of all human necessities. The practice is also associated with creating good luck and ridding oneself of anger and negative thoughts. Some will cut their fingernails and hair and add them to the Krathong, to symbolize the letting go of the bad elements of one’s self. This will be an unforgettable and spiritual evening that will stay within your heart.

While in Chiang Mai we will visit the Old City, the traditional part of town, which is filled with culture and traditions. From Chiang Mai we will go on a day tour to explore the life and culture of the Long Neck Tribe in the Karen Village as we make our way to the majestic White Temple also known as Wat Rong Khun of Chiang Rai. Experience Hindu and Buddhist architecture first hand. This is perhaps the most unique temple in the Kingdom of Thailand.

Thailand is a country so full of culture and traditions. Open your heart to something new. Allow yourself to Explore. Discover. Embrace. Be. Learn. Share. Let this be a path awakening in front of you.
